New This Week: A 1998 Vernis Bedford, Loewe Raffia and Two Dior Knit Sets

A generous intake this week, and a clearly vintage-leaning one. Archive Louis Vuitton sits alongside Dior knitwear, a Loewe raffia tote and a Gucci quartz watch from the turn of the millennium.

The Bags

The standout is the Louis Vuitton Amarante Monogram Vernis Bedford Bag, dated 1998. The Bedford is one of the more sculptural Vernis silhouettes, and the Amarante purple against vachetta trim and flat vachetta handles is the version collectors tend to hold out for. A top zip and exterior slip pocket keep it usable rather than purely decorative.

The Loewe x Paula’s Raffia Leather Tote comes from the Paula’s Ibiza collaboration — open-weave raffia made in Spain, with smooth leather shoulder straps to anchor it. A relaxed hobo shape that reads as holiday but carries perfectly well through a working week.

For something more structured, the Valentino Brown Leather Rockstud Tote is the large open-top version in brown calfskin, with the house’s pyramid studs in gold-tone hardware and a tonal suede lining. And the Bottega Veneta Black Padded Cassette needs little introduction — the compact padded silhouette that reframed intrecciato for a newer audience, in the black that suits it best.

Dior Knitwear, and a Case for Silk

Two Christian Dior knit sets landed together, both tank-and-cardigan pairings meant to be worn as one or split apart. The Black & White Check Set is a cashmere, silk and polyamide blend; the White & Navy Stripe Set swaps in linen for a lighter hand. Either is the sort of piece that quietly does a lot of work in a wardrobe.

The Christian Dior Brocade Black Crinkle Jacket is the more characterful arrival — a crinkled brocade texture in black, silk-lined, with enough structure to carry an evening look without announcing itself. Alongside it, the Chanel Black Lightweight Belted Jacket in 100% silk, size 36, belted to shape and easy over tailoring or denim.

From The Row, the Blaise Dress in a wool and mohair blend, US size 6. Understated in the way the label always is, with the texture doing the talking.

Footwear, and One for the Wrist

The Chanel Black & Grey Tweed Ankle Boots from 2016 combine suede and tweed with a CC logo and the leather-threaded chain detail, set on a block heel that makes them genuinely wearable. The Christian Louboutin Pumppie 85 Pumps arrive in blush patent, EU 36.5, described as barely worn. For a flat, the Valentino White Leather Loafers in size 39, with a chain across the vamp.

Finally, the Gucci 3600L G-Face Quartz Watch — stainless steel, Swiss quartz, circa 2000, and supplied with an era-correct box. A neat entry point into vintage Gucci hardware.
